The Co-op has extensive standard operating procedures in place for cleaning our locations. Below are some of the key highlights.
Employees clean register areas regularly, including hard surfaces of the printers, screens, scales, counters, credit card machines and any other general surface. We repeat these procedures throughout the day as customer flow allows or when asked to do so by the next person in line.
We are constantly wiping down all surfaces on the sales floor in the bulk department. Scoops are washed regularly. Hand sanitizing wipes and pumps are available in the department with trash cans for discarded wipes and gloves. We have also ordered spice containers with pourable lids for our spice counters.
Other surfaces, such as door handles on coolers/freezers (Dairy, Frozen, Beverage) and counter tops in appropriate departments (Meat, Seafood, Deli, Prepared Foods) are cleaned throughout the day and as part of our closing procedures.
Other Ways We Keep the Stores Clean
Finally, we employ a third party to clean thoroughly after closing so that our stores are as safe as possible for our shoppers the next morning. These highly trained professionals clean the restrooms, employee areas, break rooms, and all shopping areas. They also wash windows and floors, clean handrails, knobs, case fronts, and water fountains, and sweep and wash down backroom areas.

2 nights per week, Tuesday & Thursday, restrooms, offices, customer area, conference room, drive-through desks.

2 nights per week, Tuesday & Friday, restroom and customer area.
2 nights per week, Monday & Thursday, deep clean all areas.
