Local Food Factors

A podcast about the people, policies, and practices that determine how well we eat

In each episode of Local Food Factors, we will examine risks facing small-scale food producers. We will highlight what’s working for these food suppliers, and suggest actions we can take to keep the good food coming our way. This is about the means by which we secure fresh food for our future.

Episode 1: Farmers Markets

Farmers markets are the most visible parts of a local food economy. During Covid-19, many state governments hesitated before allowing them to open. The story of farmers markets during the pandemic is one of resilience, nimble response, and consumers finding a safer way to shop for food and enjoy community. We speak with farmers, food advocates and Vermont's Secretary of Agriculture Anson Tebbetts to learn more about the importance of local food and local farmers markets.

Local Food Factors is a production of the Hanover Consumer Cooperative Society.
