The Pennies for Change program is one of the Co-op’s many giving programs. Customers can donate their change to our community partners by rounding at the registers to the next full dollar amount.

New Changes to the Co-op’s Pennies for Change Program

In 2020, the Co-op is changing the structure of the Pennies for Change program. While we will continue to support our three food access partners, we’ll now be awarding four organizations 10% of the monthly total, rather than 30% and 10% divided among two.

This will give our other community partners more opportunities for funding throughout the year; adding even more to the amazing work being done in the Upper Valley!

The Co-op’s Board of Directors has established the following policy on cooperative giving and are organized under the following four themes:

• Food assistance to alleviate hunger,
• Community building (including support of regional agriculture),
• Promotion of cooperative principles and activities
• Environment, energy and sustainability.

Fund Distribution

Of the funds collected each month, 60 percent goes to our food access partners: LISTEN Community Services, Upper Valley Haven, and Willing Hands.

The remaining 40 percent will be split between four other community partners. These four partners change on a monthly basis.

Community Partners

Community partners will be assigned as 10 percent partners based on alignment with the four themes above.
